Career Opportunity: Human Resource Generalist in Greenville, NC

We are excited to offer a contract-to-permanent position, starting with approximately 25 hours per week.
Upon successful completion of the contract period, this role will transition to a full-time position.
As the HR Generalist, you will play a vital role in onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and HR operations to ensure a well-supported workforce. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive and positive thinking, highly organized, and experienced in HR processes within a healthcare or social services setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Lifecycle Management:

  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding process for employees.
  • Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate smooth department transitions.
  • Facilitating talent acquisition and recruitment processes.
  • Maintain and update employee records to ensure compliance with all policies and regulations.

HR Operations & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to state and federal employment laws as well as DSIS policies.
  • Track and maintain employee licensures and certifications for compliance.
  • Support performance management, including evaluations and improvement plans.

Employee Relations & Engagement:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related questions and concerns.
  • Assist in conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary actions, ensuring fair and compliant processes.
  • Lead and participate in employee investigations as necessary.
  • Implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.

Payroll & Benefits Coordination:

  • Work with the payroll team to ensure accurate timekeeping and reporting for employees.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans.
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding benefits and compensation policies.

HR Systems & Reporting:

  • Manage HR software, performance tracking systems and employee engagement.
  • Generate reports on workforce trends, compliance, and HR activities for leadership.

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

  • Identify gaps in HR processes and take initiative in fixing them.
  • Optimize HR technology and systems to streamline administrative functions.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare, staffing, or social services.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented—can develop and maintain structured HR systems and processes.
  • Solutions-focused mindset—identifies and implements improvements.
  • Must be willing to travel to sites once a month.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, employment laws, and best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Lattice) and performance management tools.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to handle sensitive HR matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong administrative skills.
  • SHRM or PHR certification is a plus.
