Overview

Position Summary: In this role, you will provide significant contributions to our success performing full generalist duties in support of the Human Resources Team’s mission “To create, support and activate a culture of Employee Engagement & Total Well-Being, which will drive the current & future success of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.”

The key roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Payroll/HRIS Administration (~30%)

  • HRIS/payroll database administration duties including data entry and updates; preparing timesheets for payroll processing; report generation & maintaining database integrity
  • Work with managers and employees to resolve pay/time-related issues
  • Work collaboratively with managers to ensure they are properly trained on the system

General Human Resources Administration (~30%)

  • Consults with and advises management in all areas of HR administration, policies and procedures
  • Counsels management and employees on a range of issues including policies, performance improvement, employee and labor relations
  • Participates in employment-related investigations
  • Supports the onboarding process of new employees of the organization

Benefits Administration (~20%)

  • Coordinates new benefit orientation & enrollments
  • Point person for employee benefit questions and issues
  • Manages the annual open enrollment process (timing, communications, etc.)
  • Collaborates with the HR team to analyze current & potential employee benefits offerings to maintain foster a culture of employee engagement & “Total Well-Being”
  • Works with health & wellness partners to resolve issues, explore opportunities and maintain positive relationships
  • Processes billing reconciliation and provides appropriate reports to the Finance team

Worker’s Compensation & Leave Administration (~20%)

  • Primary employee contact for worker’s compensation claims and administration
  • Works collaboratively with TPA (Sheakley) on claims administration and audits
  • Primary employee contact for FMLA, Disability and LOA administration & carriers

Desired Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field
  • 5 years of related, progressive experience
  • Experience in multiple HR disciplines is preferred
  • PHR / SHRM certification desired
  • Experience with HRIS payroll/time & attendance software programs, highly desirable
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will be considered

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with diverse personalities
  • Excellent presentation, project management & organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software
  • An understanding and affinity to the mission of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is a must

Working Conditions /Other Requirements:  Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment drug & nicotine screen, TB test, and background check.  Requires full vaccination for COVID-19, as currently defined by the CDC. While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, walk, and have the manual dexterity to use computer mouse and keyboard. The incumbent may be exposed to outside weather conditions and must be able to lift/move/carry up to 25 pounds without assistance, must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive a Zoo vehicle.

Position Details:  This is a full-time, overtime-exempt, and eligible for the Zoo’s benefit programs for non-union employees.
