Job Title:  Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Specialist is a vital part of a dynamic, progressive, interactive, and engaged Human Resources team. The HR Specialist will advise, counsel and assist operations and functional leadership on a variety of HR Related matters with an emphasis on facilitating processes and procedures to effectively maintain the operation of the HR function, provides administrative support to HR functions. Resolving personnel relations matters and supporting key staffing initiatives. In addition, the HR Specialist will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, and recruitment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a point of contact for associate questions (benefits, 401k, personal changes, etc.). Processes all hires, transfers, changes, and terminations accurately into HRIS in a timely manner. Creates and maintains all associate files, personnel, and benefits. Assists with creating offer letters, new hire packets and background checks
  • Oversee and manage the new hire process from recruitment to onboarding
  • Works closely with recruiting team, manages open positions, tracks new candidate status, leads HR orientation
  • Provide advice and counsel to operations leaders to facilitate the resolution of employee relations or performance issues. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures and support operations leaders in to complete appropriate documentation
  • Support administration of benefits programs and serve as a liaison between employees and benefit and Leave administrator. Assists with benefits and open enrollment. Enters benefit enrollment in the system and exports data. Provides education and information to help employees make election decisions. Records elections to provide to Benefit providers. Ensures accuracy of information, addresses Domestic Partner situations for benefits related questions, and ensures withholdings are correctly stated
  • Analyze and provide recommendations for process improvements related to standard operating procedures and creation of process guides and SOPs. Performs research and/or data analysis on HR related topics as requested including but not limited to employee retention data, payroll reports, employee rosters, etc. Responsible for tracking metrics, extracting information from a data base and compiling reports for distribution. Perform other assignments as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human resources or business-related field, or a combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of human resources Specialist experience with demonstrated expertise in multiple disciplines, such as recruiting, employee relations, HRIS
  • Human Resources Certification (PHR or SPHR) is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; developed management level presentation skills
  • Strong PC skills is required with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel; Lotus Notes experience is a plus
