If yes, we want to speak to you about this brand-new position!  As the Benefits and Compliance Specialist for GSR Brands, you will serve an important role, not only functionally, but strategically, in supporting our employees as we position our company for unprecedented growth.


As the Benefits & Compliance Specialist reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will:

  • Function as part of the Human Resources team, with accountability to the Finance team
  • Assess program effectiveness and identify necessary changes in business processes to ensure efficient and accurate workflow and the best utilization of resources; work with HR and Finance team members and key external partners to develop and implement improved processes
  • Utilize HR, vendor, and finance systems to verify and update data, prepare reports, conduct audits, and analyze data to identify and resolve errors; reporting may include but is not limited to payroll hours, ACA, safe harbor lookback, PTO, 401k, FTE, benefits eligibility census, and more
  • Assess department needs, perform analysis and provide recommendations
  • Work in conjunction with Director of Human Resources and broker partners to develop long-term benefits strategy for enterprise
  • Assist in researching and negotiating benefits contracts
  • Lead the implementation, coordination, administration and evaluation of various benefit plans and programs
  • Process benefits enrollments, terminations, and COBRA notifications, verifying that deductions are being handled appropriately and accurately
  • Take responsibility for processing short term disability and workers compensation claims and manage correspondence with insurance companies and medical professionals as needed
  • Work with vendor partners to provide training on benefits, retirement plans and other human resources-related information as needed
  • Work with Department Heads and outside vendor partners to provide trainings in legally-required topics such as sexual harassment, diversity, employment law, first aid, etc. in order to maintain compliance; responsible for being a key member and contributor of safety-related and performance excellence processes
  • Must maintain confidentiality with the highest level of integrity
    Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with retention standards
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of HR-related policies and updating the employee handbook


The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with attention to detail and process improvement.  Must have the ability to work seamlessly with corporate partners at all levels while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with vendor partners.  Other requirements of this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2-4 years of Human Resources experience preferred, preferably with a focus on benefits and compliance; professional in human resources certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) a plus
  • Skilled in areas of strategic planning, analytics and problem solving
  • Ability to build partnerships and influence people of all ages, experience, and cultural backgrounds
  • 1-3 years of experience using an HRIS System
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Excellence in the area of time management and the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities, bringing assignments to successful completion under specific deadlines
  • Possess a sense of urgency and self-motivation

This is currently a part-time position, expected to average 20-25 hours/week.  In the future, there may be an opportunity to grow into a full-time position with expanded responsibilities into other areas of Human Resources, so interest and experience outside of Benefits is a plus.
