School Outfitters is seeking an approachable service orientated HR Generalist. The HR Generalist plays an integral role in maintaining the SO culture through consistent application of human resource practice and policy. This position carries responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.

Position Overview

-Continue to demonstrate and enhance Best Places to Work initiatives and practices
-Keeps up with the latest recruiting trends, actively engages with employment candidates, networking, interviews, screens, and recruits job applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements
-Provide advice and counsel to management and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, laws/compliance, and procedures to support the School Outfitters Way Values
-Consult with and train managers on employment matters, including employee development, discipline, and termination
-Manage employee relations issues, as needed, including investigations and conflict resolution
-Assist with management of benefits administration (enrollment, changes, responding to questions, etc.) Acts as an additional contact for all benefit plans (broker, advisors, insurance carriers) Participates in either the Fun, Wellness, or Safety committees
-Back up to process payroll
-Plans and conducts new employee orientations, assists with preparing and processing new hire paperwork, employee paperwork filing
-Assist in the Quarterly Employee Performance Review process (MaPping)
-Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
-Administer various HR plans and procedures as needed and complete required forms and filings – unemployment, workers compensation, etc.
-Provide support for employee functions and Company events
-Other duties as required and assigned


-Bachelor’s degree – preferable in human resources or business (or related experience)
-5+ years of Human Resources experience that includes employee relations
-Professional accreditation (PHR or SHRM-CP) desired
-Ability to effectively communicate and relate with all levels in the organization
-Must have the ability to maintain complete confidentiality on all employee information
-Good understanding of technology and its use to improve business processes
-Strong computer skills – including proficiency with Word, PowerPoint & Excel
